      "Angels Watching Over Me"

      Rose Watson

      Producer, Lead Vocalist

      Lady Rose Watson is a triple threat talent who sings, dances, and acts. Lady Rose is not only known as a great performer, but also as an entrepreneur leading her own company, TWG, Inc as president, producer, director, and songwriter; doing everything with class, elegance and excellence.

       

      Classically educated at the School of the Arts, Virginia Commonwealth University in Virginia, she has toured and performed extensively in the USA, Europe, the Caribbean, South America and Asia. Lady Rose has appeared on numerous television shows, and has an extensive resume of stage credits in Europe and the USA.

       

      In Europe, she co-starred with Ron Williams in the musical, Ray; with Joan Orleans in Mahalia; and with Joann Bell in Oh Happy Day. She was a principal performer in both Tenoritas and Sister Act during their European tours, and in the hit musical, Beehive in Hamburg, Germany.

       

      In the USA, her musical credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Crowns, Ain't Misbehavin’, Beehive, Blues in the Night, Songs from the Soul, Tales of Hoffman, the Magic Flute, and the epic operetta, Carmen. 

       

      With all her monumental successes ranging from stage to television, her first love is gospel music. Out of a deep desire to share the joy of her music with the rest of the world, she founded the Black Gospel Angels.

       

      The music of Lady Rose Watson and the Black Gospel Angels is heavenly! Started in 2015, this dynamic ensemble from the USA, with its soulful mix of traditional gospel music and contemporary rhythms leaves audiences standing, jumping, stomping and cheering in expressions of pure joy!

      Queen Yahna

      Guest Performer, Lead Vocalist

      Queen Yahna is a native of Philadelphia, USA. She grew up in a family of singers and musicians as the daughter of Bishop J.W. Dennison. Musically versatile, her gifts shine in a number of genres. She has performed on Broadway and in American National Productions such as Porgy and Bess, South Pacific, One Mo 'Time, The Wiz and God's Trombones.

       

      She was the featured guest in the last episode of the TV series of ABC's Cop Rock in the closing number "It's not over until the fat lady sings." This fantastic Tony Award nominated singer/composer has top ten hits in Germany and Europe.

        

      Queen Yahna has performed in major concert halls, theaters and clubs in the USA and Europe, as well as at jazz festivals in Bregenz and Berlin. She has performed in the Philharmonic, the Friedrichsstadtpalast, the Theater des Westens, the Deutsche Oper and the Komische Oper.

       

      She has directed the Berlin Community Ensemble, and is still known as the "Queen of Soul" in Berlin's music scene. Her radio, film and television appearances continue. Her philosophy is that she wants to share her gift from God with the world, to bring joy to the heart; rejuvenation to the soul, and awakening to the mind.

      JAMES “JAYDEE” LEWIS

      Singer, Tenor

      James “Jaydee” Lewis is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He is an associate minister at the Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Although Reverend Lewis was licensed to preach in 1996 and ordained in 2002, he is better known for his musical gifts. He has shared the stage with many well-known gospel giants like James Cleveland, Byron Cage, Albertina Walker, Timothy Wright, The Winans, John P. Kee, Kirk Franklin, and Anthony Hamilton. Jaydee has been featured in several local theatrical productions to include “How I Got Over,” “The Church in the Valley,” “He Said, She Said but What Does God Say?” “Stop the Violence,” “Respect,” “Christmas Every Day,” and “Keep On Dancing.” He made a cameo appearance in the motion picture, “Major Payne,” starring Damon Wayans. Most of all, Jaydee loves the Lord and loves to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. His motto is, “If you got the faith, God’s got the power.”

      JONTAEL ANDERSON

      Singer, Soprano

      Jontael Anderson is a native of Danville, Virginia, she discovered her love for singing at the age of 5. Never afraid, she has continued to share her musical gifts on a variety of stages and platforms. A graduate of Virginia Union University, and owner of her own hair salon, she welcomes the honor and privilege to join the Black Gospel Angels on this year’s tour.

      MARKISE HICKS

      Singer, Tenor/Baritone

      Markise Hicks is a singer, songwriter, and producer, an American independent Gospel artist. He is known throughout the southeastern region of the United States for his energetic style of music with his ensemble “The MO band.” His Debut album “Markise Hicks and the Mo Band: Live” garnered five award nominations, and the opportunity to sing on stages across the U.S. He is also the worship coordinator for his church in Norfolk, Virginia where he serves as choir director, and leads over 6,000 people in praise and worship every weekend.

      JJ LASSITER II

      DRUMMER

      JJ Lassiter II is a dynamic drummer, and has shared his percussive stylings with a number of well-established artists around the U.S. A newcomer to the Black Gospel Angels Tour, his musical experience and exposure have enabled him to function as a producer, music programmer, musical director, drum technician, keyboard and bass guitar player. In his element on the drum set, he plays to the beat of his heart. He uses his God-given gift as both a ministry and a mission. We welcome JJ Lassiter to the 2019 Tour of the Black Gospel Angels.

      KIM CRUSE

      SINGER, ALTO

      Kimberly (Kim) Cruse is a native of Woodville, TX. She spent most of her years leading worship at her father’s church in Texas. Most of her musical background has come from studying music at Stephen F Austin State University, and as a worship leader at different churches. She‘s toured with Award winning gospel artist John P Kee, and R&B sensation Monica. Aside from that, Kim is currently working on her solo project in Atlanta, GA and has been featured as a WINNING VOCALIST on a top internet blog in the U.S. Kim is excited to be coming to Germany for the first time and touring with “The Black Gospel Angels”. With a dynamic voice, she’s our newest angel!

      DAVON FLEMING

      SINGER, TENOR/ALTO

      With a combination of soul, R&B and Gospel, the world was bound to know the name - Davon Fleming. The Baltimore native is no stranger to the stage having performed at the White House, toured internationally and as a background vocalist for some of the industry's top artist. Most recently, he made his TV comeback as a contestant on NBC's hit singing competition show "The Voice" (USA) - where he amazed viewers and Judges with his performances week after week. Following his run on the show, Fleming ended as a Semi-Finalist as the last original member standing on 'Jennifer Hudson's Team'. He left his mark by topping the charts each week and being one of the only contestants in the history of the show to place in 3 different charts during a Season (Pop, R&B, and Christian), Fleming is a steadily rising star with no plans on falling anytime soon.

      CALVIN BROWN

      Music director

      Calvin Brown was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Richmond Virginia. His initial experience with music was in church. It wasn’t until later that he began to notice the piano. At G Clef Studios, his reading was strengthened and he was exposed to classical piano music. Calvin was a part of the Jazz Band at Atlee High School and eventually he began playing in church, learning the hymns and playing for the choir at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

       
      After studying privately with several professors at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond Virginia, his talents continued to grow. He was a member of the Greater Richmond High School Jazz Band for three consecutive years and awards and further educational opportunities followed. Calvin won the First Annual VCU Jazz Piano Competition, and also won the Stu Gardener Talent Competition, where he shared the stage with the famous Mr. Bill Cosby. Also, Calvin received a full scholarship to attend the Vail Jazz Institute and studied with great musicians such as: Terrell Stafford and the Clayton Brothers. After attending the “New School” in NYC, Calvin transferred to “Berklee College of Music” where he graduated with a music degree in Film Scoring. We welcome Calvin to his first “Black Gospel Angels” tour.
